3 Free Accessibility Resources for Instructional Designers

Updated: Jan 5, 2022

In 5 Accessibility Tips for New Instructional Designers, I went over basic things you can do to improve accessibility in your learning designs right away. Explore these 3 free resources to deepen your understanding of accessibility and your role as an Instructional Designer.

#1 WebAIM: Web Accessibility in Mind

"Expanding the potential of the web for people with disabilities by empowering individuals and organizations to create accessible content."

Check out the Resources tab for tools, popular resources, and infographics like this:

#2 Web Content Accessibility Guidelines

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines are more geared towards developers, but there's solid guidance for Instructional Designers as well. Each standard is given a priority level; Level A is a basic requirement, Level AA is more advanced, and so on.

#3 E-Learning Hub

E-Learning Hub provides training and consulting services to businesses looking to improve their accessibility. Check out the Resouces tab for some free information. I ordered the founder, Susi Miller's, new book, Designing Accessible Learning Content, and am looking forward to diving into it.
